About this notice

What this page covers

Last reviewed 26 October 2026. Applies to visitors of abensio.com.

This Cookie Policy explains how abensio.com uses cookies and similar technologies. It describes what cookies are, which categories this site uses, and how you can control them. It applies to visitors of this website and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Abensio publishes comparison material and guides for US HR and finance teams working on salary, budgeting, and headcount planning. That work runs on ordinary web pages, not on an account area: there is no sign-in on this site, and no dashboard storing your payroll figures. The cookies described below support reading, measuring which guides are useful, and keeping forms working.

Two terms appear throughout. A first-party cookie is set by abensio.com itself. A third-party cookie is set by a service we embed or load, such as an analytics provider, and is governed by that provider's own terms. Both are covered here.

Categories in use

Categories of cookies we use

We use strictly necessary cookies, which are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off through our controls. We use analytics cookies to understand which pages are visited and how visitors move through the site. Where applicable, we use preference cookies to remember settings you have chosen. We do not use cookies to serve advertising based on your activity on this site.

The register lists the categories active on this site. It does not list a vendor for every individual cookie name, because providers change their own naming when they update their tools.

Definitions

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognize your browser on return visits, remember preferences, and measure how pages are used. Some cookies are set by the site you visit directly. Others are set by third-party services that operate on the site.

Similar technologies do the same job with different storage: a pixel, a local storage entry, or a session identifier. Where this policy says "cookies", the same rules cover those equivalents.

Two durations matter in practice. Session cookies clear when you close the browser tab; persistent cookies stay for a set period, which is why clearing them once does not always reset everything. Both are visible in your browser's storage view, and both can be deleted there.

Purpose

Why we use them

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site secure and functional, including protecting form submissions. Analytics cookies help us see which guides and comparisons are used most, so we can decide what to update. Preference cookies reduce the need to re-enter settings. None of these cookies are used to build advertising profiles of individual visitors.

That last point is deliberate. A resource about salary budgeting and headcount planning is read for reference, often during a work task. There is no reason for this site to follow a reader around the web afterward, and we do not configure it to.

Providers we do not control

Third-party cookies

Analytics or functionality providers may set cookies when you use the site. These providers process data under their own privacy terms, and we do not control the cookies they set. Where such providers are used, we select them for their stated data handling practices.

Practically, that means a cookie set by a provider can persist after you leave abensio.com, and its lifetime is set by that provider rather than by us. If you want to remove it, use your browser's cookie list for the provider's domain. If a provider's terms change in a way that affects what is collected here, we revisit whether to keep using it.

Your controls

Managing cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works, including the contact form. Browser help documentation explains how to manage cookies for your specific browser. You can also use private browsing modes to limit cookie storage during a session.

Block or delete in the browser

Every mainstream browser has a settings screen listing stored cookies by site, with options to remove individual entries or clear everything. This is the most direct control you have, and it applies to third-party cookies as well as ours.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies

These keep pages loading and protect form submissions. If you block them, the site may still display, but the contact form and any page that depends on a session can stop working. That trade-off is yours to make.

Private browsing windows

A private or incognito window limits what is stored once you close it. It is a useful way to read a guide without leaving preference or analytics identifiers behind for that session.

Revisiting after a reset

Clearing cookies also clears a stored cookie choice, so a notice may appear again on your next visit. That is expected behaviour, not a sign that the site has forgotten your settings deliberately.

Changes and contact

We may update this Cookie Policy if the cookies we use change. Updates will appear on this page. Questions about cookies can be sent through the contact page or by mail to Abensio, 1201 North Market Street, Suite 111, Wilmington, DE 19801, USA.

When a change affects what is collected rather than only how it is described, we will note it here rather than quietly revising the text. This page is the single source for how cookies work on abensio.com.
